Not everyone drives, and even people who do sometimes decide a bus is easier than finding a space in Sliema on a Saturday. The problem is that a playground a kilometre from the nearest stop is not really reachable with a toddler and a pushchair.

Getting there is rarely the problem. Services thin out in the evening and on Sundays, and a tired child waiting for a bus that is twenty-five minutes away is a bad end to a good afternoon.
Very few playgrounds in Malta have a working drinking fountain, and the ones near a café are the exception rather than the rule.
